Implementation of a Real-Time Lecturer Attendance Monitoring System with Automatic Notifications to Improve Academic Transparency

Students often face difficulties in finding lecturers due to uncertain schedules. This research develops a real-time lecturer attendance monitoring system with automatic notifications to improve academic transparency. The research method uses Rapid Application Development (RAD) which emphasizes iterative development through prototypes involving users. The system is built using Next.js for frontend, Laravel for backend, and MySQL for database. Main features include real-time attendance recording, automatic notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging, schedule integration (offline/online), leave approval, and role-based dashboards. Black-box testing shows 100% functionality success. User evaluation from 67 respondents shows 88% satisfaction rate. The system successfully reduces student time in searching for lecturers by 75% and increases academic transparency through real-time attendance status monitoring.
